Dr. Leif Bergsagel is a Professor of Medicine for the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and a consultant in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He is the Principal Investigator of the Mayo Clinic SPORE in Multiple Myeloma, and co-director of the Hematologic Malignancy Program in the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. He received a B.Sc. degree and M.D. degree from the University of Toronto. He completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency at the University of Toronto Sunnybrook Medical Centre, as well as a residency at Stanford University Medical Center and completed a Fellowship program in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, MD, where he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Kuehl. After working at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, he moved to Mayo Clinic Arizona in 2004. Dr. Bergsagel’s research interest focuses on molecular pathogenesis of multiple myeloma. Working together with his wife, Dr. Marta Chesi, he identified the recurrent chromosome translocations in multiple myeloma, a promiscuous array of mutations that activate the NFKB pathway, and developed a novel transgenic mouse model that faithfully reproduces the genetic, phenotypic, clinical and therapeutic features of human myeloma. An active investigator in many clinical trials, he has led efforts to develop targeted therapy for multiple myeloma, starting with targeting the t(4;14) chromosome translocation that he identified.

Sarah-Maria Fendt is a Principal Investigator at the VIB Center for Cancer Biology and Professor of Oncology at KU Leuven, Belgium. Sarah has a Master degree of Science in Biochemistry from TU Munich and a PhD in Molecular Systems Biology from the ETH Zurich. Sarah worked as postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), before starting her independent research program in 2013. Sarah’s lab is specifically interested in understanding the role of metabolism in driving metastasis formation and in defining the principles of metabolic regulation that enable cancer cells to communicate with and respond to their environment. Her team applies the powerful technologies of single cell and spatial multi-omics analysis in pre-clinical mouse models and patient samples to study this interplay between cancer cells and their metabolic environment. The research of Sarah’s lab has been published in high impact journals including Nature and is currently funded by multiple (inter)national grants and industry, which include an ERC consolidator grant. In 2020 Sarah has been awarded with the highly prestigious EMBO Gold Medal and a Baillet Latour Grant for Medical Research. Moreover, in 2021 Sarah received the Beug Prize for Metastasis Research and she was elected in 2022 as EMBO member.

Dr. Christian Frezza is the Alexander von Humboldt Professor of Metabolomics in Ageing, at CECAD, at the University of Cologne. He studied Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Padova, Italy, and gained his MSc in 2002, after a period of research on mitochondrial toxicity induced by photoactivable anticancer drugs. Christian then joined the laboratory of Luca Scorrano in Padova to start a PhD on mitochondrial dynamics and apoptosis. In 2008, he moved to the Beatson Institute of Cancer Research in Glasgow as the recipient of an EMBO Long-Term Fellowship, where he investigated the role of mitochondrial defects in tumorigenesis. He moved to the MRC Cancer Unit in 2012 as a tenure track Group Leader and became a Programme Leader in 2017. In 2021, as the recipient of the Alexander Von Humboldt professorship, he moved his laboratory to CECAD at the University of Cologne.
By using a combination of biochemistry, metabolomics, and systems biology, he investigates the role of altered metabolism in cancer initiation and progression. His aim is to exploit these findings to establish novel therapeutic strategies and diagnostic tools for cancer.

Dr. Goldszmid has a long standing interest in understanding the mechanisms governing the development, functional maturation and dynamics of the mononuclear phagocyte cellular network [e.g. dendritic cells, monocytes and macrophages] that plays an instrumental role in host defense. In particular, her research focuses on linking the microbiome, mononuclear phagocyte development, and cancer and infectious diseases with the ultimate goal of identifying new potential therapeutic interventions to improve cancer treatment.

Prof. Rajiv Khanna obtained his doctorate degree from India and undertook his post-doctoral training at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR), Brisbane Australia. He is the Co-Director of Queensland Immunology Research Centre and currently appointed as Distinguished Scientist at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Prof. Khanna is also appointed as Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland and Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. Prof. Khanna is a Fellow of Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and was awarded Order of Australia in 2017. He has extensive expertise in immunotherapy clinical trials, herpesvirus immunology and vaccine development. Over the last two decades, his group has successfully translated his research towards the development of novel T cell-based immunotherapeutic strategies for the treatment of transplant recipients and autoimmune diseases. Prof. Khanna is currently appointed as a consultant to Atara Biotherapeutics, Dynavax Technologies and Cellevolve Bio for the development of novel immunotherapeutics, diagnostic technologies and vaccines. He is also appointed on Scientific Advisory Board of Atara Biotherapeutics. Prof. Khanna has been invited by various national and International organizations for expert advice on developing clinical guidelines and scientific review.

Dr. Malkin is Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Biophysics in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. He holds the CIBC Children’s Foundation Chair in Child Health Research, is a Staff Oncologist in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, Director of the Cancer Genetics program, and a Senior Scientist in the Genetics and Genome Biology Program at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Malkin co-leads the SickKids Precision Child Health initiative. He co-directs the SickKids Cancer Sequencing (KiCS) program which integrates next generation sequencing (NGS) into clinical care of children with cancer, and Director of the pan-Canadian PRecision Oncology For Young peopLE (PROFYLE) initiative which is establishing a pipeline to incorporate NGS into novel clinical trials for children and young adults with hard-to-cure cancers across Canada. Dr. Malkin’s research focuses on genetic mechanisms of childhood cancer susceptibility particularly in the context of TP53 and Li-Fraumeni syndrome. Recently, his work has addressed the application of genomics to clinical surveillance and treatment approaches for children and adults at genetic ‘high risk’ for cancer. Dr. Malkin’s research is funded by a variety of agencies and he has published over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He has received numerous national and international awards recognizing his clinical, research and mentorship work, most recently being elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2022, a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Community Award in 2023, and elected Fellow of the Academy of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in 2024.

Jeffrey S. Miller, MD, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and received his MD from Northwestern University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation at the University of Minnesota, he joined the faculty in 1991. Dr. Miller is currently a Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He is the Deputy Director of the University of Minnesota Masonic Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has more than 25 years of experience studying the biology of NK cells and other immune effector cells and their use in clinical immunotherapy with over 300 peer-reviewed publications. He is a member of numerous societies such as the American Society of Hematology, the American Association of Immunologists, a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation since 1999. He serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Immunology and Transplantation and Cellular Therapy and is a reviewer for a number of journals and NIH grants. He is an honored double recipient of the National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigator Award for 2015 and 2023.

Luke O’Neill is Professor of Biochemistry in the School of Biochemistry and Immunology, Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He is a world expert on innate immunity and inflammation. His main research interests include Toll-like receptors, Inflammasomes and Immunometabolism. He is listed by Thompson Reuters/ Clarivates in the top 1% of immunologists in the world, based on citations per paper. Professor O'Neill is co-founder of Sitryx, which aims to develop new medicines for inflammatory diseases. Another company he co-founded, Inflazome was acquired by Roche.
He was awarded the Royal Dublin Society / Irish Times Boyle Medal for scientific excellence, the Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal for Life Sciences, The Society for Leukocyte Biology (SLB) Dolph O. Adams award, the European Federation of Immunology Societies Medal, the Milstein Award of the International Cytokine and Interferon Society and the Landsteiner Award from the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the Royal Irish Academy, EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organisation) and a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Katy Rezvani, MD, PhD is a professor of medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she serves as the Sally Cooper Murray Chair in Cancer Research, chief of the section for cellular therapy, director of translational research, and medical director of the GMP Facility. She also serves as executive director of MD Anderson's Adoptive Cell Therapy Platform. She leads a research lab with a focus on NK cell biology and developing novel NK cell engineering strategies for cancer, with the aim of translating these discoveries to the clinic. Dr. Rezvani completed her medical training at University College London, England and her PhD at Imperial College London. She completed her training in immunology and transplantation biology at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. In addition, she has co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications and received multiple prizes and awards, including the American Society of Hematology E. Donnall Thomas award.

Dr. Zemin Zhang is a Professor of Peking University and the Director of BIOPIC (Biomedical Pioneering Innovation Center). He obtained his BS from Nankai University, PhD from Penn State University, postdoctoral trainings at UCSF, and spent >16 years at Genentech/Roche prior to joining Peking University. His lab focuses on understanding the detailed characteristics of the tumor microenvironment, in particular the interplay between immune and cancer cells using adanced genomics technologies, with the goal to identify new therapeutic strategies via modulating the tumor microenvironment. He is a CUSBEA Scholar, a Cheung Kong Scholar, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Dr Polly Leilei Chen received her Bachelor of Medicine and completed her medical training in China before earning her PhD in 2010 from the University of Hong Kong. In 2014, Dr. Chen joined the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a Principal Investigator at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, concurrently assuming the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. Dr Chen is an EMBO Young Investigator and an Asian RNA Research Ambassador. She currently places her research focus on functional and mechanistic investigation of RNA changes (particularly RNA editing, modification, and splicing) leading to cancer initiation and development; and the development of novel cancer therapies targeting these cancer-associated RNA changes.

Tom Carney graduated from the Genetics Department at the University of Adelaide in 1996 before completing a PhD in zebrafish developmental biology in the laboratory of Robert Kelsh at the University of Bath, UK, studying specification of neural crest derivatives. He continued zebrafish research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology in Freiburg, Germany from 2004. Here he analysed a number of epidermal mutants, elucidating the role of novel extracellular matrix proteins and serine proteases in development and human disease models. He took up an assistant Principal Investigator position in IMCB in October 2008, and then became an Assistant Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU in 2014. His current research focuses on modelling human skeletal disease states in zebrafish and defining pathways of metastasis and inflammation

Dr. Sanjay de Mel is a haematologist based at NCIS, subspecializing in multiple myeloma and lymphoproliferative disorders. His research interest is in immune dysregulation and personalised therapeutics of multiple myeloma and lymphoma. He is currently focusing on high dimensional immune profiling to understand mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma.

Dr. Anand Jeyasekharan is a clinician-scientist and assistant professor at the NUS Centre for Cancer Research, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Functioning as a consultant medical oncologist at the Department of Haematology-Oncology, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore; and principal investigator at Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, National University of Singapore. He holds appointments as facility head of the Microscopy and Multiplex Assays (MMA) Core at Cancer Science Institute of Singapore and co-lead for the Translational Research Integration and Support (TRIS) platform of the national Singapore Translational Cancer Consortium (STCC). Dr. Anand's research has been funded through multiple institutional and national grants over the past decade. He hasauthored and co-authored more than 50 publications, including papers in prominent journals such as Nature, Cell, Cancer Discovery, JNCI, PNAS, EMBO Molecular Medicine, Annals of Oncology and Nature Structural Molecular Biology. His work has been facilitated by multiple collaborations in academia (primarily in Asia, Europe and North America), as well as with industry partners, including funded research from Janssen Pharmaceuticals and AstraZeneca UK.

Professor Jianjun Liu is currently the Acting Executive Director and Distinguished Institute Fellow at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) and a Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Prof Liu’s main research interest is to understand the genetic susceptibility of human diseases. Focusing on Asian populations, he has pursued collaborative research on discovering genetic variants that influence disease susceptibility, progression, and treatment outcomes. Prof Liu’s research covers diverse disease phenotypes, including cancers, autoimmune/inflammatory diseases, neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, and infectious diseases. Prof Liu’s research has pioneered genome-wide association studies of complex diseases and adverse drug reactions in Asian populations and contributed to understanding the genetic architecture of Asian populations. By publishing over 470 peer-reviewed papers with over 49,000 citations (H-index = 95, Web of Science 2022), Prof Liu has established an internationally competitive research program on Asian genetics and was recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” (top 1% of scientists with the highest number of citations globally) in 2015. For his contributions to the genetics of Asian populations, Prof Liu was awarded the “Chen Young Investigator Award” from the Human Genome Organization (HUGO) in 2011 and the “President’s Science Award” of Singapore in 2020.

Dr. Minh Le received a Ph.D. degree in Computational and Systems Biology from the Singapore-MIT Alliance in 2010 and further trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital for 5 years. She worked at City University of Hong Kong for 4 years and returned to NUS as an Assistant Professor in 2019. Dr. Le is well recognized for her contributions to the fields of extracellular vesicles, non-coding RNAs, and cancer biology. Her doctoral and postdoctoral research focused on the discovery of microRNA functions in cancer, while her own lab centers around intercellular communication via extracellular vesicles. Her group has recently developed a strategy to harness extracellular vesicles from red blood cells for the delivery of nucleic acids. This drug delivery platform serves as the foundation for her start-up company, Carmine Therapeutics. Dr. Le received the L’Oreal Singapore for Women in Science National fellowship, the Jane Coffin Childs fellowship, the Falling Wall Venture award, the NUS Alumni team award, and most recently, the Graduate Mentor of the Year (GRAMAY) award. She is currently a deputy editor of the Journal of Extracellular Biology and an associate editor of the Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, as well as a Springer Nature journal: Cancer Nanotechnology.

Dr. Babita Madan’s Academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Molecular Immunology from the University of Delhi, India. She pursued her postdoctoral training in Germany before assuming roles at a biotech firm S*Bio Pte. Ltd in Singapore, and Duke-NUS Medical School, where she currently holds the position of Assistant Professor. Her work has significantly contributed to the development of the anti-cancer drug ETC-159, which reached clinical trials. Her present research interests are centered around harnessing the potential of pan-Wnt inhibitors to unveil novel Wnt-regulated pathways. These endeavors have uncovered previously unrecognized roles of Wnts in diverse processes such as ribosomal biogenesis, DNA repair, and cholesterol biosynthesis. Her future studies seek to unravel the regulation of metabolic signaling intermediates by Wnts, shedding light on the interaction of between Wnts and additional signaling pathways. This exploration promises to provide nuanced insights into the roles of Wnts in cancer progression and tissue homeostasis.

Shazib Pervaiz holds a Full Professorship in the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions at the YLL School of Medicine, such as Vice Dean (Research and Graduate Education) and is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Curtin University, Perth, Australia. He is spearheading a group investigating cellular redox status and its impact on cancer cell fate decisions with an overall objective of identifying novel targets for therapeutic intervention. He has authored more than 145 research papers and book chapters and his research work is highly cited in the field, as indicated by over 12000 citations and an H-index of 52 (by Google Scholar). He has been an invited speaker at several international and regional conferences and is serving on the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals. He was elected to the European Cell Death Organization (ECDO) Academy in 2013. Being a Clinician Scientist, he also has an extensive understanding of working with the healthcare sector as well as with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Professor Ashok Venkitaraman is the Director of the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, and a Distinguished Professor of Medicine at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He was from 1998-2020 the Ursula Zoellner Professor of Cancer Research at the University of Cambridge, and former Director of the MRC Cancer Unit. He is recognized for elucidating how a class of human genes, exemplified by the breast cancer gene BRCA2, preserves genome stability to suppress carcinogenesis. He has developed new technologies to accelerate drug discovery, and is a serial biotech entrepreneur, most recently as a founder of PhoreMost Ltd. Prof. Venkitaraman has been elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, London, and a member of EMBO, Heidelberg.

Dr Polly Leilei Chen got her Bachelor of Medicine in 2002 from Medical school, Jiangsu University, China, followed by 2-year specialized training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. She completed her PhD in Cancer Genetics in Prof. Xin-Yuan Guan’s laboratory at the University of Hong Kong in 2010. After 2-year postdoctoral training in the same lab, she joined NUS as a Principal Investigator at Cancer Science Institute of Singapore and Assistant professor in the Department of Anatomy in 2014. She has recently been promoted to Associate Professor.
Dr. Chen’s research interest has centered on transcriptome alterations in human cancers and in particular on understanding how A-to-I RNA editing contributes to cancer initiation and progression. She currently places focus on the regulators of RNA editing, the crosstalk between RNA editing and other RNA processes, and the development of RNA-based therapeutics targeting cancer-driven editing events.

David Virshup, M.D., is Director of the Programme in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) and Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and is jointly appointed as Professor of Pediatrics at Duke University in North Carolina.
Dr. Virshup received his B.A. magna cum laude from Beloit College, majoring in chemistry. He received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, followed by clinical residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He credits his research training and mentoring to William Zinkham, Vann Bennett, and Tom Kelly in the departments of Pediatrics, Cell Biology and Anatomy, and Molecular Biology and Genetics, all at Hopkins. Dr. Virshup established his first independent laboratory at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where over the course of 17 years he rose to Professor of Pediatrics and Oncological Sciences with an endowed chair as an investigator at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. He moved to Duke-NUS in Singapore in 2007 to help establish CSCB.
He has been elected to several honorific societies including the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Association of American Physicians (AAP). He is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the USA.
His research has focused on signal transduction, with an emphasis on both Wnt signaling and circadian rhythms. Early work examined the roles of Protein Phosphatase 2A and Casein Kinase 1 play in these processes. In Singapore, studies of phosphorylation of the PERIOD protein lead to the elucidation of the phosphoswitch model controlling circadian clock speed. In addition, his laboratory collaborated to develop a small molecule inhibitor of Wnt secretion, ETC-159, a drug now in human clinical trials.

Wai Leong TAM performed his PhD research at the Genome Institute of Singapore, where he worked on uncovering the bases for the pluripotency of embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. Subsequently, he undertook his postdoctoral training under the mentorship of Robert Weinberg at the Whitehead Institute in MIT, where he concentrated on understanding breast cancer stem cell biology and cancer metastasis. He joined the Genome Institute of Singapore (A*STAR) and the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (NUS) as a Principal Investigator in 2014. He is an adjunct faculty member at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in NUS, the School of Biological Sciences in NTU, and a recipient of the Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship. His lab focuses on uncovering and interrogating the emerging paradigms of cancer stem cells, specifically in the areas of cancer metabolism, cell state transitions, and tumor microenvironment.

Vinay Tergaonkar obtained his Ph.D. (2001) through an international cancer society (UICC) fellowship for collaborative research at Tufts University, Boston, USA. He has been a fellow (2001-2004) and a special fellow (2004-present) of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America and conducted his postdoctoral studies at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, California. He joined the
Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), Singapore, in late 2005 as Principal Investigator and became a Senior Principal Investigator in 2010 and Research Director in 2015. He is also a Professor at School of Medicine at National University of Singapore. He serves on Editorial Boards of 1) Science Advances (AAAS), 2) Molecular and Cellular Biology (American Society for Molecular Biology), 3) Biochemical Journal (Portland Press) 4) Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology (Elsevier Press), 5) BMC Research Notes (Biomed Central) and 6) Telomeres and Telomerase. Dr Joanne Ngeow, BMedSci, MBBS, FRCP, MPH is Associate Professor (Genomic Medicine) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Singapore and Senior Consultant, Division of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Dr Ngeow currently heads the Cancer Genetics Service at the National Cancer Centre Singapore with an academic interest in hereditary cancer syndromes and translational clinical cancer genetics. Her team is the go-to for clinical and translational cancer genetics in Singapore and the region. Dr Ngeow was awarded consecutive fellowships by the National Medical Research Council to complete formal clinical and wet bench training in Cancer Genomic Medicine at the Genomic Medicine Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. Dr Ngeow is funded by the National Medical Research Council and Ministry of Health to explore how gene-environmental interactions predisposes to cancer initiation and progression and the implementation of genomics into routine clinical care.

Kanaga Sabapathy obtained his B.Sc (Hons) degree in Zoology from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and then his Ph.D. in Molecular & Cellular Immunology from the Institute for Molecular & Cellular Biology (IMCB), Singapore, in 1995. His post-doctoral work was conducted at the Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna with Dr Erwin Wagner, studying the c-Jun-N-terminal kinase stress signaling pathway, using genetically-engineered mice. He moved to the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) in late 1999 as the Principal Investigator of the Laboratory of Molecular Carcinogenesis, and since 2013, is the overall Head of the Division of Cellular & Molecular Research. He is also the Research Director of the Academic Clinical Program in Oncology at SingHealth- Duke-NUS. Dr Sabapathy is a Professor with the Cancer and Stem Cell Biology Program at Duke-NUS; a joint Professor with the Department of Biochemistry at NUS and a joint Research Director at the IMCB. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK), and the recipient of the National Research Foundation Investigatorship award in recognition of his work, to further his investigations on ground-breaking, high-risk research. He is also the Director of Planning and Strategy at the NCCS, to coordinate and oversee all brand planning, strategic planning and analytical activities in the upcoming new NCCS. Dr Sabapathy’s group focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in cancer development and response to therapy, through the study of the p53 and p73 tumor suppressor paradigms. His research is aimed at both understanding the molecular nature of cancer and designing effective targeted-therapies against the disease.

Dr Raghav Sundar is a clinician-scientist specialising in gastrointestinal oncology. He is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Research Director in the Department of Haematology-Oncology, at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore. He treats patients with gastrointestinal malignancies including colorectal, gastric and hepatobiliary malignancies. He specialises in experimental therapeutics and early phase clinical trials, and is a part of the Phase 1 clinical trials team. He underwent fellowship training at the Drug Development Unit, Royal Marsden Hospital, UK. His research interest is in genomics and epigenetics of gastric cancer and tumors that metastasize to the peritoneum. He studies the interaction between the tumor epigenome and the immune microenvironment. His work has identified predictive biomarkers of systemic therapy in gastric cancer as well as potential therapeutic targets. His studies incorporate contemporary technology such as spatial transcriptomics and machine-learning. Another area of research interest in chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy. As a translational clinician-scientist his works arches across several domains, collaborating with engineers, bioinformaticians, laboratory scientists, pharmaceutical and industry partners. He has published over 80 manuscripts, in high impact journals such as Cancer Discovery, Journal of Clinical Oncology, British Medical Journal

Shazib Pervaiz holds a Full Professorship in the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Over the years, he has held various leadership positions at the YLL School of Medicine, such as Vice Dean (Research and Graduate Education) and is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Curtin University, Perth, Australia. He is spearheading a group investigating cellular redox status and its impact on cancer cell fate decisions with an overall objective of identifying novel targets for therapeutic intervention. He has authored more than 145 research papers and book chapters and his research work is highly cited in the field, as indicated by over 12000 citations and an H-index of 52 (by Google Scholar). He has been an invited speaker at several international and regional conferences and is serving on the editorial boards of several international peer-reviewed journals. He was elected to the European Cell Death Organization (ECDO) Academy in 2013. Being a Clinician Scientist, he also has an extensive understanding of working with the healthcare sector as well as with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Associate Professor Edward Kai-Hua Chow is a Principal Investigator at National University of Singapore (NUS) in the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore and the Department of Pharmacology. He is also the Research Director for the Institute of Digital Medicine (WisDM) and Dept. of Pharmacology. He received his B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the UC Berkeley and his Ph.D. at UCLA. Prior to joining NUS, A/P Chow was an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow under the guidance of Prof. J. Michael Bishop (1989 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine) at UCSF. His research group is interested in understanding how to treat specific oncology patients or patient subtypes as well as the oncogenic drivers that determine subtype-specific therapy. In particular, his group is interested in applying engineering-based analytics towards personalised and precision drug combination design. Through the development of quadratic phenotypic optimisation platform (QPOP), his group has demonstrated that drug combination design for specific disease indications as well as specific patient groups can be quickly achieved in a cost, time and sample efficient manner. With an emphasis on haematological malignancies and gastrointestinal cancers, this work has been translated into multiple clinical studies as well as part of the NUS start-up, KYAN Therapeutics.

Dr. Chew graduated with a PhD in immunology from Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Graduate Scholarship program in Singapore. Dr Chew then started her postdoctoral training in Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), A*STAR focusing on tumor immunology. Since 2015, Dr Chew joined Translational Immunology Institute (TII), SingHealth Duke-NUS to advance her professional career in tumor immunology research. She also holds assistant professor position with Duke-NUS Medical School.
Dr Chew is the key researcher leading the project on understanding the impact of tumor immune microenvironment on clinical outcome in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Her work has gained recognition with multiple grant awards and high impact journals including Gut, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences and Journal of Hepatology.

Anders Skanderup is a group leader at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS). His group is interested in computational and data-intensive approaches to decipher the molecular basis of cancer, discover novel biomarkers, and improve treatments. Walter Hunziker obtained his PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich) in Natural Sciences in 1986 for the cloning of the cDNA of the small intestinal brush border enzyme sucrase-isomaltase. He did postdoctoral work at Yale University where he identified signals that target membrane proteins to the basolateral surface of epithelial cells. In 1992 he moved to the Biochemistry Institute of the University of Lausanne as a group leader, continuing to study membrane traffic in epithelial cells and was appointed Assistant Professor in 1996. He joined IMCB in January 2000 as an Associate Professor and is Deputy Director of IMCB.

Dr Sunny Wong is a clinician-scientist and an Associate Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Singapore. He received his MBChB with Honors at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and his DPhil in University of Oxford on human genetics and infectious diseases. He completed his clinical training in gastroenterology and endoscopy in the Prince of Wales Hospital Hong Kong. His main research interest is on gut microbiome, investigating the host-microbe interaction in digestive and metabolic diseases, and exploring this for discovery of novel biomarkers and therapeutics. He has won several awards, including the Asia Pacific Digestive Week Emerging Leaders Lectureship (2021), the Sir David Todd Lectureship (2020), the Lo Ying Shek Chi Wai Foundation Meritorious Research Award (2020), and the Croucher Foundation Award (2014). He has published over 160 peer-reviewed articles including papers in Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Gastroenterology and Gut. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Dr. Ann Lee is a Principal Investigator at the National Cancer Centre Singapore, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at both the Duke-NUS Medical School and the National University of Singapore (NUS). She majored in Pathology at the University of Melbourne where she obtained her BSc(Hons), and completed her MSc (Immunology) at NUS and DPhil(Oxon) (Molecular Pathology) at the University of Oxford. She has trained at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK).
Dr. Lee’s research group has received funding from the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) of Singapore, Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) of Singapore and A*STAR (Industry Alignment Fund grants). Her research focuses on biomarker discovery and identifying cancer risk markers. Current research interests are to develop blood-based assays for cancer which may be utilised for the early detection of cancer.
Besides research, Dr. Lee teaches at NUS and has served as a grant reviewer for the NMRC for 12 years, and as a member of the international UICC TNM Expert Panel for breast cancer.

Deng Lih Wen received her Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor Richard Perham at the University of Cambridge and completed her postdoctoral training with Professor Jack Strominger at Harvard University. In 2004, she began her independent position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Her research group is dedicated to comprehending the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in cancer development and therapy resistance, aiming to develop diagnostic markers and selective therapeutics against cancer resistance and metastasis. They investigate the roles of chromatin dynamics and genomic instability in carcinogenesis and explore the regulation of cysteine homeostasis, along with the potential of targeting cancer metabolism for therapy. Deng Lih Wen has been recognized for her contributions with awards such as the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Faculty Research Excellent Award, Teaching Excellent Award, and Young Research Award. Additionally, she holds affiliations with the National University Cancer Institute of Singapore and the NUS Centre for Cancer Research, NUS.

Dr Jones gained his PhD at the Sanger Institute, Cambridge, where he was involved in the C. elegans genome project. Currently, he is Head of Bioinformatics and Co-Director of the Genome Sciences Centre at BC Cancer in Vancouver. Dr Jones has played a role in numerous other genome projects, including that of the human, mouse, rat, bovine, fruitfly and the SARS coronavirus.
Dr Jones’s research focus is the computational analysis of DNA sequence and the analysis of genomic and transcriptomic data. He has applied next-generation DNA sequencing technology to determine the mutations and rearrangements driving many tumour types. A key goal is to develop bioinformatic approaches to predict the most efficacious therapies from the genetic analysis of patient tumour samples to help guide clinical decision making.
Amongst Dr. Jones many and varied honours and awards he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada as well as the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. In 2014 and again in 2016, he was named by Thomson Reuters as one of the world's most influential researchers being in the top 1% of cited scientists. In 2018, 2019, and 2020. Dr. Jones is Canada Research Chair in Computational Genomics at the University of British Columbia.
He has been invited to give over 167 presentations, nationally and internationally, is an author on over 535 peer-reviewed publications (Google Scholar h-index 152) and is Principal Investigator and co-applicant on grants that have totaled over $700 million to date.
