Margaret (“Peggy”) Goodell is a Professor and Director of the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Center at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas.
Goodell’s current research is focused on the fundamental genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that regulate hematopoietic stem cells, and how those regulatory mechanisms go awry in hematologic malignancies. She has recently focused particularly on the role of the de novo DNA methyltransferase, DNMT3A. Goodell is a former president of ISEH (2013-2014) and received the Damashek Prize from the American Society of Hematology in 2012. Goodell serves on the Board of Directors for the Keystone Symposia, is an Associate Editor for Blood, and serves on the editorial boards of Cell Stem Cell and PLoS Biology.
