Dr William Hwang is the Medical Director of National Cancer Centre Singapore and Professor in the Cancer and Stem Cell Biology Signature Research Programme (SRP) of Duke-NUS Medical School. He is also the Academic Chair of Oncology Academic Clinical Program in SingHealth Duke-NUS. His main research focus is on haematological malignancies, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular immunotherapy.
Dr Hwang was previously Head and Senior Consultant of Department of Hematology of the Singapore General Hospital, Head of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Blood Cancer Centre (SDBCC), Director of SingHealth Transplants and founding Medical Director of the Singapore Cord Blood Bank. He also served as President of the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA), President of the Singapore Society of Hematology (SSH), President of the 2016 Asia Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplant Group (APBMT) Congress in Singapore and Chair for Chapter of Haematologists. He is Advisory Committee member of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and Executive Board member of the Asia Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplant Group (APBMT) as well as President of the 2016 APBMT Congress.
