This position is an appointment to CSI MMA Core. The microscopy section of the MMA Core offers scientists a variety of confocal (Zeiss LSM880 with Airy Scan, Nikon A1R), widefield epifluorescence and live-time imaging microscopes (Zeiss and Olympus) to facilitate good-quality image acquisition for their research. We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated staff to anchor the day-to-day running of our microscopy session including the training new users and helping to optimise the settings of the equipment for optimal imaging of research materials.
This staff will also assist in various administrative duties including purchasing and billing, as well in contributing towards other core services when appropriate.

The successful candidate will aid the institute in providing flow cytometry service for users. The candidate can also choose to work on either research or administrative tasks under the supervision of A/Prof. Takaomi Sanda.
Duties And Responsibilites
Job scope:
1. Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) Facility
• To be in charge for the daily operation and maintenance of flow cytometry machines (analyzer and sorters).
• To provide flow sorting service for users.
• To provide technical advices for users.
• To ensure that the facility is adequately stocked with buffers, clean glassware, minor equipment, chemicals, etc. required for smooth operation of the facility.
• To ensure that standard operating procedures and safety regulations are followed.
• To record the utilization of flow cytometry machines and report to the institute.
2. *Research or Administrative Tasks
* The candidate can select either research track (appointed as a Research Assistant) or administrative tack (appointed as a Laboratory Executive).
2.a) Research tasks
• To maintain animal (mouse and/or zebrafish) colonies, including breeding and genotyping procedures.
• To monitor phenotypes (e,g, tumor development, hematopoietic phenotypes).
• To isolate tissues (e.g., bone marrow, thymus, spleen) from the animals.
• To harvest cells, protein, RNA or DNA from animal tissues, cell lines or bacteria.
• To perform experiments including PCR, immunoprecipitation and Western blot.
b) Administrative tasks
• To liaise with the central operation team, committees and the administrative office to assist the lab.
• To maintain a systematic and proper record of documents (e.g., budget spending).

• To liaise with the vendors to ensure proper purchase requisitions, goods delivery and prompt payment of supplies.

The Cancer Science Institute (CSI) of Singapore — a part of the National University of Singapore — is seeking a manager for its Genomics and Data Analytics Core (GeDaC). He/she will be responsible for designing and implementing a technical roadmap for genome science at CSI. This is an opportunity to support CSI’s vision to become a world leader in cancer genome science. With a team of laboratory assistants, bioinformaticians, and software engineers, the GeDaC is expected to provide:
1) Bespoke bioinformatics pipelines and technical assistance to individual projects
2) A scalable infrastructure for DNA/RNA-seq processing and analytics
3) Assistance with data management and storage
4) Sequencing library preparation techniques and validation services
The Core Manager will oversee both scientific and administrative operations to ensure the aforementioned deliverables are met. All solutions must be agile and evolve over time to adapt to new standards. Finally, this individual will liaise with key personnel to ensure interoperability of CSI platforms with other key stakeholders in Singapore.
The Core Manager will report to the CSI Director as well as a Technical Advisory Board. Successful candidates will have a deep background in either genome analysis or genomics project management. He/She must possess long-term vision while maintaining a keen sense of near-term prioritization. As GeDaC solutions will be built upon Amazon Web Services (AWS), familiarity with cloud-based architecture is a must. This individual must possess the technical savvy to explain, troubleshoot, and solve issues with scientists, software developers and bioinformaticians. The ideal candidate would be a very effective communicator with people of diverse backgrounds.
