Xenograft Cancer Models Facility
Facility Head: Dr CHAN Shing Leng CSI Singapore
Recent development of transplantable patient-derived cancer tissue xenograft (PDX) lines generated by grafting of fresh cancer tissues in immunodeficient mice (e.g., NOD/SCID, NOG mice) offers more realistic preclinical cancer models in terms of their histopathological and genetic profiles. The Cancer Models Facility has established a repository of PDX models for gastric cancer (Table1). These PDX models closely resemble human cancer rather than cell lines and are well annotated, which allowed many basic oncology research questions to be addressed. We work closely with clinicians in the University Surgery Cluster and we will expand our collection of PDX models to include lung cancer that has an Asian phenotype in the coming year.
