Executive (HR)

To provide HR admin support in recruitment, appointments, re-appointments, resignations, lapse of contracts, and other HR issues for academic/non-academic/exec & professional tracks, to ensure institute’s manpower needs are met.

Duties & Responsibilities

I. HR Administration

  • Review, update and maintain proper filing of performance appraisal form and training schedules
  • Assist Admin Director in planning and preparing annual headcount report and updating the staff listing
  • Work in tandem with OHR, MOE HED and assist in HR policies and procedures for the CSI Singapore complying with university HR policies, procedures and regulations where applicable
  • Responsible for assigning of TRAC approver for new staff
  • Resource person for HR related matters/enquiries, for eg, Leave issues, issuance of letter of employment, etc.

II. Recruitment, Appointments & Re-appointments

  • To provide support in arranging interviews, processing of documents for recruitment, re-appointment, resignations, lapse of contracts, etc.
  • Coordinate academic recruitment with faculty HR teams
  • Conduct new-hire briefing for new staff on the general administrative details
  • Arrange for transit accommodation for new staff
  • Opening of new staff’s p-file
  • Assist expatriate staff to settle in, claim for reimbursement for airfare/ housing allowance/ education allowance/ travel assistance under their contract terms

III. Performance Review

  • Assist in performance review exercise for Academic/Research, Executive & Professional, & Non-Acad staff
  • Review and assist to revise performance indicators for staff when required

IV. Visits (Visiting Professors and Recruitment Visits)

  • Prepare recruitment dossiers of candidates shortlisted
  • Arrange for Visiting Professors’ accommodation, visit program & other logistics
  • Follow up with PI/management on evaluation of candidates
  • Process payment of accommodation, reimbursement of airfare, per diem and/or honorarium

V. Leave/Resignation Administration

  • Responsible for leave administration as leave clerk and assignment of leave approver and training supervisor via SAP system
  • Arrange transit accommodation for departing staff where appropriate
  • Update of staff resignations into SAP
  • Archival of p-files

VI. Other duties

  • Maintain and update HR files and records
  • Maintain staff list and list of staff/ person who have access to CSI labs
  • Assist with distribution of internal mail
  • Liaise with vendor for printing of name cards
  • Assist in pantry duty roster
  • Assist in conferences, seminars and other institute activities when necessary
  • Any other duties as assigned by senior management

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in HR duties
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Able to work independently, diplomatic and discreet
  • Pleasant and helpful personality with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • SAP knowledge will be an advantage

Laboratory Executive - Dr. David Tan

To provide support to the Principal Investigator and his team in terms of research, laboratory and administrative needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

a) Research

  • to carry out assigned experiments
  • to organise, preserve and present the results of the experiments in a logical manner
  • to properly and systematically record all experiments that have been assigned and their results
  • to analyse and plan further experiments under guidance
  • to assist in supervising, training and guiding attachment/undergraduate students where required

b) Laboratory

  • to carry out routine laboratory work
  • to plan and ensure the needs and requirements of the team in terms of consumables
  • to ensure that the lab is adequately stocked with clean glassware, minor equipment, chemicals, etc. required for experiments
  • required to prepare specimens and samples for experiments
  • responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of equipment through regular checks
  • required to assemble reagents, chemicals and media that are needed for experiments
  • to ensure that standard operating procedures and safety regulations are followed
  • responsible for the general cleanliness of the lab

c) Administrative duties

  • to plan and ensure that the overall lab administrative needs of the team are met
  • to assist the Principal Investigator in tracking his/her grants and other sources of funding
  • responsible for purchasing necessary equipment, chemicals, reagents as required by the lab or project

Requirements:

  • Degree in Life Sciences or its equivalent
  • Experience in clinical work, molecular biology is preferred

Laboratory Executive - Prof. Toshio Suda

A Laboratory Executive position is available immediately in Prof Toshio Suda’s lab at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, for a motivated individual.

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Research

  • Assist primarily with cell culture and possibly, FACS experiments in the lab.
  • Genome analyses.

– Laboratory

  • Maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and restocking when required.
  • Maintaining records of experiments and protocols.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Cellular/Molecular biology/ Genetics/ Biochemistry).

Laboratory Executive - Prof. Teh Bin Tean

To provide support for the central lab operations in order to (i) assist in experiments to meet the research goals of the laboratory, (ii) manage and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment and (iii) ensure that the institutes’ general laboratory and safety requirements are met.

  • To carry out assigned experiments and perform biological, chemical, or physical analysis and determinations as tasked

  • Ability to perform wide areas of research techniques (protein expression, biochemistry, tissue culture, bioinformatics, etc) will be advantageous
  • Good interpersonal communication to work cooperatively and effectively with others
  • Ability to speak and write well in English
  • Ability to grasp and articulate scientific concepts
  • Self-driven, initiative, meticulous personality

Knowledge of:

  • Basic principles and practices in the fields of biology, physiology and/or chemistry.

Laboratory Executive - Dr Dennis Kappei

We are seeking a highly-motivated candidate for a laboratory executive position available in the Kappei Lab at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore. Our young and international team addresses research questions on nucleic acid-protein interactions with quantitative mass spectrometry, cell biological and genetic approaches applied to cancer research. Specifically, the successful candidate will be actively involved in a research project investigating telomere-binding proteins in hematologic malignancies. This project will span a variety of experimental approaches, e.g. gene editing of cancer cell lines, expression analysis of mRNA and protein as well as various mass spectrometry-based approaches to study DNAprotein and protein-protein interactions. Overall the laboratory executive will support the research team in terms of research, laboratory and administrative needs.

Requirements:

  • Degree in life sciences or equivalent; fresh graduates are welcome to apply
  • Excellent communication skills and good team spirit
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Outstanding organizational skills

Practical experience with proteomics research and molecular biology techniques are an added advantage but not a requirement.

Laboratory Executive - Dr Yvonne Tay

A lab executive position is available immediately in Dr Yvonne Tay’s lab for a highly motivated candidate with a background in molecular or cellular biology, biochemistry or other related fields who is interested in deciphering regulatory RNA networks in the context of cancer (reviewed in Tay et al, Nature 2014; also see Tay et al, Nature 2008 and Tay et al, Cell 2011). The successful candidate will design and conduct experiments, analyse data, and provide support to the lab in terms of research, laboratory and administrative needs.
