Management Assistant Officer (Finance)

To provide support on financial operations to Associate Director (Finance) and CSI Scientists.

Duties & Responsibilities

I. Financial Operations

  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters
  • Assist in the production of financial statements and applications, preparation of spreadsheets, reports and correspondence as required
  • Assist with end of year preparation and procedures, including fixed asset verification exercise
  • Assist and support Associate Director in the resolution of finance and/or audit related queries; providing basic financial analyses of large data sets to identify relevant information to extrapolate the correct numbers for accurate calculations and responses to audit and other financial queries
  • To track accounts (budget, expenditure, income) for rapid updates and monthly reporting to supervisor on actual expenses and cash balance to date
  • To maintain sets of accounts for PI/Facility Heads which will form a subset of the institute’s accounts
  • Invoicing and monitor the collection of payment for services rendered by CSI core facilities/events
  • Review and verify invoices for payment
  • Provide advisory procurement support to scientific and other admin staff
  • Basic procurement and assist in a tender where necessary
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

II. Research Grants

  • Assist to track research grant budgets
  • Assist to collate information and prepare reports on research grants
  • Assist to document and file all letters/approvals, etc. required for research grants
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Candidates with at least two years of relevant experience working within a finance department will have an advantage
  • Basic understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Good level of competence in Excel, Word and Outlook and computerized account software, for example, SAP
  • Diploma or equivalent in finance or accounting or related field
  • Good negotiation skills with a calm and professional disposition
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines

Laboratory Technologist – Dr. Allen Yeoh Lab

Dr. Allen Yeoh’s lab is looking for a laboratory technologist to help to maintain Leukemia Tissue Bank.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sample processing and tissue banking
  • Molecular leukemia characterization
  • Maintain cell/tissue bank inventories
  • Thiopurine pharmacogenetics associated with 6-mercaptopurine drug sensitivity
  • Assist in research projects (ad hoc basis)
  • Ensure HBRA compliance
  • Attending to Tissue Bank sample requests from researchers
  • Sample preparation for pick up by courier
  • Prepare documents for shipment
  • Maintain material transfer agreement records

Requirements

  • A good diploma or degree in Biological Sciences of Life Sciences
  • Experience in molecular techniques and cell culture are added advantages
  • Able to work over-time or weekends (Saturday) as it involves processing clinical
    samples from patients and delivering timely lab results
  • Ability to speak and write well in English
