Ovarian cancer awareness drive focuses on early detection

Dr Ruby Huang, a Senior Research Fellow at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore and a scientist-clinician with the National University Hospital, together with her team has identified five new ovarian cancer cellular sub-types. “We could develop a diagnostic kit molecularly, to define ovarian cancer, and by doing so, the next step would have the potential to develop into new therapeutic, tailor-made personalised medicine,” she said. The team hopes to launch a clinical trial of the diagnostic kits in about two to three years.
